He has over 25 years of law enforcement experience with over 30 years of law enforcement instructing experience.  He retired from the Raleigh Police Department in 2017. Gerald is a use of force specialist with law enforcement instructor certifications in firearms, subject control, edged weapons, pepper spray, holds and escapes, weapon retention, police baton, and physical fitness.  Gerald has Instructor, Technician, and Master Instructor Certifications from TASER International.  He is a graduate of the Force Science Certification as well as the Institute for the Prevention of In-Custody Deaths Instructor. Gerald has conducted extensive medical, technical, training, and legal research on law enforcement use of force. He has extensive training and instruction of martial arts with over 30 years of experience in this area.  He is also proud to have served with the 3/504 PIR, 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army.      

He has over 20 years of law enforcement experience with a single agency of approximately 800 sworn officers.  Daniel is currently a captain and has served in a variety of supervisory positions.  He holds instructor level certifications in firearms, concealed carry, defensive tactics, weapon retention, Verbal Judo, physical fitness and ground defense.  He specializes in communication skills and use of force articulation for law enforcement professionals. He is a law enforcement Risk Managment specialist.
